IN VALIDATION OF THE COMRADE’S SUPPORT FOR THE INDEFATIGABLE IDOMA LEADER .
Comrade Abba Moro, the immediate past minister of Interior of the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria needs no introduction in Benue and off course, Nigeria’s politics. Admittedly, in Benue State and particularly in Idomaland his concretized and entrenched political positives are incontestable. He carries and embodies the immutable spirit of a peoples’ plight in the face of an unending group domination and the conquering mentality of the leadership of a self reclamation struggle.
The Abba Moro tendency is unparalleled in the history of minority struggle for federal space in Nigeria’s multi-ethnic competing circuit. Every sub-national and intending national leader and or statesman’s political beginning resumes from the scary or otherwise situation of his people and generation. That is the material salt of every nationalistic leadership.
Comrade Moro deserves no condemnation from any quarters especially in Idomaland and Benue State, no matter the level of unintended provocation assuming there was any. From his humble days as a scholarly teacher, Chairman of a local government, gubernatorial aspirant to the very enviable level of statesmanship as a federal minister, the Comrade left historical notes as irrefutable placards of time and history. It is incontrovertible that the federal opportunity provided him by the un-daunting and unyielding Pax-Nigerian nationalist, Senator David Mark was the best to have happened to the entire Idoma nation. The comrade is not a man that toils with slim opportunities that are hardly and scarcely available in Nigeria’s thin political space. From the Idoma situation, Abba Moro deserves all. His call for the retention of Senator Mark is a political attitude that professes avid loyalty, reminder to respecting the source of greatness and a keen philosophy that we cannot and should not repudiate what strengthens us in a dis-strengthening entity.
At the least consideration, the Idomas for several decades were extricated from the sources of state services and empowerment for no structural reasons relating to incompetence, incapacity and incapability but for the mere little size of their population. Moro’s position was clear, if the sub state strata is engrossingly disadvantageous, then any slight opportunity at federal fixation must be massively applied for the gross empowerment of this disempowered self-accentuating minority. The result of this theory is not even a subject of the now. In the next fifteen years, the middle cadre of the various paramilitary structures and commanding heights of sister agencies like the customs, mother institution like the armed forces would be replete with out rightly qualified Idoma sons and daughters. Moro as a livid student of power struggle, knew that the sardaunaization of Nigeria’s first republic was what gave rise to the political forwardness and power hegemony of Nigeria’s North. That forward planning is still manifest in Nigeria’s power control to date. We cannot pretend about it. Abba’s call to Idoma people to revote Senator Mark is deservedly gratuitous and politically timeless. There is no known Idoma extended family that did not benefit from the practices of the political theory that was first laid by Senator Mark and dutifully delivered by Comrade Abba Moro. We, history and essential collective reminisces owe Comrade Abba Moro a space in gratuitous conscience, if not out rightly then sublimely, and if the both don’t apply, then generation next would. The attempt to criminalize Comrade Moro’s person serves a psychological satisfaction to our group detractors. We can understand, after all, Aper Aku was vilified by a large section of his ethnic intellectual militia for profligacy. Subsequent generation of leaders proved an un-envisaged leadership holocaust.
Equally, David Mark shall undergo repudiation, after all, Awolowo suffered immeasurable tantrums from even beneficiaries before a period of over three decades proved to the very enlightened Yoruba race that he was after all, the venerated saint of their ethno-national conclave. Those whom Abba Moro has cautioned not to become applicable tools to overt outside intrusion because of the little official perquisites that they today assume, may realize too late when power becomes truly transient as a year may prove in speed to be only four hours. Comrade Abba Moro remains Idoma’s pivotal connect to the next possibilities of our people. To resound the man’s astuteness, he remains unNigerianly loyal to his source-David MARK. In Nigeria, where even children deny their parents when government transitions occur, Comrade Abba Moro remains resolute to both group and organizational discipline.
We sure live in an era where altered elements of statesmanship are permanently under laid. We concede that man is fallible. Yet Comrade Abba Moro’s political correctness far out-weighs the hate drums being bandied around surprisingly by former beneficiaries and time servers. That is what we must all resist from being.
