“It is not the consciousness of men that determines their existence; rather on the contrary it is their social existence that determines their consciousness” – Karl Marx (1818-1883).
We have a very big problem with the democratic system of the world; because for us it is not democracy rather capitalism. Democracy promotes capitalism and the radicals are quite opposite of capitalism/democracy.
The Zaria tragedy is a clear evidence for the rapid growth of the radical perspective. Because it will clearly make you believe that justice does not exist; from the Marxist approach, justice is nothing but a slogan. A slogan paraphrased to safeguard the interest of the ruling class or elites. Individuals that sat and created the law has selfishly formulated in it self-centred rules and regulations.
Before the Zaria incident it was assumed that Nigeria as a nation has constitution, that constitution addresses key fundamental issues. Unfortunately, the constitution remains dull and dumb in the case of Zaria massacre. The law is been mishandled and take the route of injustice.
By killing over 1,000 members of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, one might argue that, massacre is also a part and parcel of the Nigerian constitution, if not so then what is the place of such inhuman act in the nation’s constitution?
Another key argument as presented by Orthodox Marxist (especially Nigerian Marxist) is the use of excessive force by the Nigeria army on civilians. The army sole responsibility is to depend the territorial boundary of a nation from all external aggression. But our army are well known for the violation of internal peace and breach of fundamental human right. The army are visible in civil cases, politics, and many more, the worst is that they also hijacked the duty of the Nigeria police.
An average Orthodox Marxist will never understand Nigeria and Zaria massacre without linking it with the world system analysis. For my fellow comrades to get it straightforward, the Zaria tragedy was initiated in the international arena in order to please the capitalist western world. The capitalist are highly motivated over our resources in Africa and they are ready to crush any obstacle that will block their exploitative chances.
Things that are never possible in the developed nations are rapidly executed day by day in the underdeveloped and developing countries. I dare the U.S or Britain army to kill a single citizen of their country not even a massacre. They could not cross the boundary of a single citizen, but brainwashed our empty head soldiers to massacre citizens mercilessly without any justification.
