Security details to President Buhari on Monday evening barred Senator Ben Bruce, the lawmaker representing Bayelsa Central senatorial district, from greeting the President at a dinner organized for National Assembly members at the Aso Villa.
The lawmaker who is known for his critical stance of the Buhari’s Presidency was an exception as other lawmakers were allowed to see the President.
Ben Bruce recounted the account to his followers on Social Media as follows;
“I was at the Presidential villa today. Went to the President’s table. DSS wouldn’t allow me greet him but let another Senator greet him!
“My critics say I shouldn’t criticize the President openly, so I go and meet him one on one and I’m blocked. Am I not a Nigerian citizen?”
The dinner was organised to mark the 2016 Democracy Day, and further to appreciate the National Assembly Leadership.
