The All Progressives Congress has said that it will act on what it described as weighty allegations against the Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole who allegedly rigged the recently concluded primary elections in favour of his prefered candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki who emerged winner at the end of the process.
The chairman of the All Progressives Congress Appeal Committee Primaries for Edo State governorship ticket, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele on Friday stated that the allegations against the primaries were weighty and could not be swept under the carpet.
Bamidele, who was at the National Secretariat of APC to meet with the leadership, stated that the committee might not hesitate to recommend for the cancellation of the primaries.
Asked about how many petitions received by the Committee, Bamidele said, “It is not about the number of petitioners we have but it is about the issues they raised. A lot of the issues are very weighty, very sensitive that could not be swept under the carpet.
“Some of the issues for instance have to do with the integrity of the ballot papers that were used to conduct the primaries in Benin City and as far as we are concern we felt that there is no way we could conclude this and submit a report to the party without having to do some manual inspection and possible forensic analysis of the ballot papers if justice on this matter would be done”.
