It could be “in 100 years time,” IBB says nothing to worry about concerning death

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) has debunked rumours of his death when reporters called on his HIlltop residence in Minna, the Niger state Capital.

Babangida, refuted the claims during an interview with the journalists and said that he doesn’t have sleepless nights thinking about his death, especially because ‘everybody has to die’ at some point.

“For me, it doesn’t shock me, neither bother me because I know I must go and meet God my Creator (one day), there is nothing really to worry about, my religion has told me

“As a Muslim I strongly believe everybody will die and everybody has to die, it could be now or in hundred years’ time or two days to come but it doesn’t matter, everybody must die” he submitted.

He acknowledged the fact that he was a mortal being and therefore, would not outlive the appointed time to exit.

Speaking yesterday in a lengthy telephone chat, however, his long time aide, Ibrahim Ismail re-echoed the position of his boss on mortality and death.

“President Babangida is alive. It is not true that he is dead. I want to assure all well meaning Nigerians he is tending his injured leg well. As for death, he is a mortal being. At the appointed time we will all pass on.Babangida is not an exception,” he stated.

Ismail thanked all those who showed concern about the rumoured passage of the former military leader and urged them to continue to pray for not just the health of Babangida but the nation as a whole and its leaders.
