Despite concerns raised by Nigerians on the imbalance of the appointments in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed another northerner Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Mohammad Usman as the new Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI).
The new Chief of Defence Intelligence, Usman took over from the acting Chief Major General Sardauna Davies on Saturday at the Headquarters of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).
AVM Usman remarked that intelligence gathering is the only way to handle insecurity in the country. He said, all forms of security challenges need some form of intelligence for security forces to overcome.
The new chief challenged the intelligence community to think outside the box in other to deliver its mandate.
