It’s Amaechi’s Govt: APC stakeholders wail as Hadiza Bala Usman becomes NPA DG

Effective July 11, 2016, Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman, the founder of the Bring Back Our Girls Group and former Chief of Staff to Kaduna Governor El-Rufai was appointed the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The news of the appointment of Ms. Bala Usman whose competence to handle the tasks is not in doubt was not well received by many stakeholders within the ruling All Progressive Congress. The stakeholders who sounded resigned remarked that the government is now an Amaechi Government, as they revealed that she was appointed on the recommendations of Transport Minister, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.

Some other members of the party felt that other parties that formed the APC  merger were being marginalized as Hadiza was reckoned to be a founding and core member of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

The new MD of the NPA took over from Alhaji Habib Abdullahi.

The President also appointed three persons as Executive Directors at the NPA. They are: Mohammed Bello-Koko (Finance), Professor Idris Abubakar (Engineering) and Dr. Sekonte Davies (Marine Operations).
