Information from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Headquarters reveal that Mrs. Omolara Amosu, wife of the the former Chief of the Air Staff who was detained overnight by the EFCC, has been released on bail.
According to the EFCC, the wife of the ex CAS was detained following the discovery of $1m in a ‘soakaway’ during raid conducted at the family residence.
The commission however explained that the money allegedly recovered from Amosu’s house in Lagos has been kept as exhibit to be used when the trial of suspects in the arms deal begins.
In related matters, a senior Airforce officer who was also implicated in the $2.1 billion arms deal has been freed after he returned N66 million out of the N90 million, allegedly traced to him, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The officer who was held under house arrest at Niger Barracks, Abuja has been released from detention and charged to look for the rest of the money.
According to our source, the other officers being detained by the NAF High Command, on behalf of the EFCC, were not allowed the privilege because they had refused to cooperate fully with the anti-graft interrogation team even though some had returned exotic cars and other valuables.
