The Minister of Niger Delta, Pastor Useni Uguru Useni on thursday was reported furious about the contract between Arab Contractors, the contractors in charge of the Owerri-PH road project and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
According to the Minister who made an inspection visit on Thursday to the project site said the road was awarded at an ‘outrageous’ amount, costing as much as Five Hundred Million Naira per Kilometer. The visibly angry minister was said to have lashed out at the contractors, describing it as a major rip-off of the country.
Pastor Useni however demanded the contractor to expedite action over the project without further delay.
The Minister was accompanied by the Minister of State, Professor Cladius Daramola and the Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Government House Owerri, Engr. Kingsley Chima Uju and key officials from the ministry of Niger Delta.
