With just a week to the start of the Rio Olympics game in Brazil, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to pay salaries and allowances to Coach Samson Siasia’s U-23 Olympic men football team.
The coach in an appeal to the Nigerian Football body and the Sports Ministry said they should release the salaries and offset the backlog of bonuses and allowances owed him and his players spanning about five months now.
He said: “I am appealing to the NFF and the Sports Ministry to pay our salaries,” Siasia said in a radio interview.
Siasia also posited that if his salaries were not paid before the Games, they will end up not being paid at all.
“After the Olympics, that money will just go on voice mail,” Siasia said, meaning he will not be paid afterwards.
The situation is similar to other coaches of various national teams, as Emmanuel Amuneke, the national U-20 coach’s salaries are held.
Immediate past Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh is also claiming that he was being owed by the NFF, even though the Glass House has hotly disputed the claim.
