Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the economy the same way he handled Boko Haram.
The former president in an interview with BBC Hausa was asked if he believes President Muhammadu Buhari can reposition Nigeria’s ailing economy, to which he (Obasanjo) replied ”Yes, Buhari could do it. If he approached the economy like the way he handled Boko Haram problem, he would help the economy of the country.”
The former President who spoke Wednesday in Hausa language from Uganda professed support for Buhari’s anti-corruption efforts describing it as successful.
”I support the fight against corruption of the president administration. Buhari had prior to 2015 election vowed to fight corruption and he is doing it. We are seeing how he is collecting stolen money from corrupt officials.”
When asked if he has been invited by President Buhari concerning critical issues affecting the country, Obasanjo said,”No, I am the one looking for him but he did not give me the permission to see him.”
