Katsina Governor sets up Government Body to Monitor ‘Shiite Affairs and Conduct’

The  Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari has inaugurated a standing committee to monitor activities of Shi’ite group in the state.

He said that the committee is created following the resolution of the Northern Governors Forum  “for state governors to establish such committees in all states of the region”.

The committee will research on conduct and activities of the Shi’ite movement “with a view to advising government through periodic reports”.

According to Secretary to the State Government Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, who inaugurated the committee on behalf of the over, the action is a proactive measure by the government to prevent re-occurence of the Zaria incidence. 

The committee was demanded to liaise with the Kaduna State Judicial Commission of Inquiry.
