Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, has ordered the arrest of a policeman, named Corporal Chukwu for collaborating with Fulani militant terrorist group also known as herdsmen who attacked Ukpabi Nimbo community of Uzo-Uwani in Enugu State on Monday, leaving over 20 persons dead.
Arase who vowed that the Fulani herdsmen involved in Enugu killings won’t go unpunished said that the policeman should be detained and properly investigated. He said that once the allegations against him were confirmed, he would not only leave the police but would be prosecuted.
Arase said he is concerned about the activities of the Fulani herdsmen who have gone about killing residents of various communities in the country.
“I am not happy about what has happened and that is why I have decided to come and have an on the spot assessment of the situation.
“I have been discussing with the senator from the area and others to enable us find lasting solution to the problem. I have been able to see what happened and we should be able to find solutions.
He said that the police is trying its best to control the situation as he assured Nigerians that the Police will protect their rights to live.
“I can assure Nigerians that nobody has the right to take the life of any other Nigerian and goes free with it. We are going to make sure that we catch them and prosecute them and we will create the enabling environment for peace.
“On our way here, we saw where we are trying to put a police station to increase Police visibility in this area.”
“Nobody has the right to take life of another person and go scot-free, police will make sure that all those involved are arrested and prosecuted,” Arase said.
The IGP remarked that more damage would have been done without police presence. He said the police will increase its presence in those areas.

He said the police sympathizes with the bereaved families
“On behalf of the police command in the country, I commiserate with families of those who lost their beloved ones and sympathise with the injured.
“The police will continue to protect lives and property of the people; the death of one person diminishes humanity.
“Am here for on the spot assessment of the situation so as to find lasting solution to the problem,’’ he said.
Arase who was in the company of the Senator representing Enugu-North Senatorial District, Sen. Chukwuka Utazi and local government chairman of Uzo-Uwani, Mr. Cornel Onwubuya, commended them for updating him on the situation in Nimbo since the attack on Monday.
Arase also commended youths in the area for assisting the police in fighting crime.
